According to the UN data and the latest statistics released on Wednesday, India has overtaken China to become the World’s most populous nation. India stands first with 142.86 crore people. Whereas China with 142.57 crore people turned the second most populous country.
According to the report 15-68 per cent are in the 15-64 age bracket. Only seven per cent of the country’s population is above 65 years of age. 25 per cent of the population is in the age bracket of 0-14 and 18 per cent is in the bracket of the 10-19 age group.
While Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have a younger population. Kerala and Punjab got the ageing population in their states. According to a few reports, India’s population is expected to hit 165 crores in the coming three decades as per forecast and might start a decline.
Now the real problem for the government is to create jobs for the younger generation and to have proper growth in the economy, while India is still a developing country. That is where half of the population of the country is below 30 years. The low to mid-income population going to face the heat of the economy and savings. India’s population is greater than the entire population of Europe or Africa, which definitely a worry.
