India and China reached an agreement on six key points to resolve their border dispute. The two countries' top officials acknowledged the need to maintain peace and committed to finding a fair, reasonable, and mutually acceptable solution to the boundary issue. The consensus also includes cooperation on cross-border tourism, river management, and trade, as well as the resumption of the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage. This was the first high-level meeting since the recent border tensions. The discussion follows a meeting between the leaders of the two countries at the BRICS summit, which marked a significant step forward amid the chill in relations after the Ladakh clashes. The aim of today's meeting was to oversee the management of peace along the border and explore a fair, reasonable, and mutually agreeable solution to the boundary question. The two sides agreed to continue taking measures to maintain peace and stability in the border areas and promote the healthy and stable development of their bilateral relations.

The two countries emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the border regions to foster the overall bilateral relationship. They reaffirmed their commitment to find a fair, reasonable, and mutually acceptable solution to the boundary issue, in line with the agreed political guidelines. Both sides agreed to further refine the management and control rules in the border area, strengthen confidence-building measures, and achieve lasting peace and tranquility. They also agreed to enhance cross-border exchanges and cooperation, including the resumption of Indian pilgrims' visits to Kailash-Mansarovar, cross-border river cooperation, and Nathu La border trade. Additionally, India and China agreed to hold a new round of special representatives' meetings in India next year. After nearly four years of military standoff, the two countries completed the disengagement of troops from the remaining friction points in Demchok and Depsang, and are now keen to build on this progress and re-establish trust. Talks to resolve the border disagreement have been restarted after a pause, with the most recent discussion taking place in 2019.
