An Atlanta couple, who were missing for about a week were found dead on Monday afternoon.
36-year-old Drew DeVoursney, who’s a Marine veteran was last seen on Tuesday night last week, as he left Scotty’s Bar and Grill in Corozal, Belize, with his girlfriend 52-year-old Francesca Matus. They apparently never made it home and they have not been heard since.
"I couldn't even bring myself to type this... I received a call from Belize saying that they found their bodies, Francesca and Drew,” friend Brandon Bar wrote on a GoFundMe Page.
Friend Joseph Milholen reported the missing. When he went to Matus’ home in the Corozal District of Belize on Friday to take her to the airport, from where she was going back to her home in Toronto. He last saw the couple at a bar.
But when he got there, he could not find Matus.
Miholen said that DeVoursney's bicycle as parked in her driveway, but Matus’ car was missing.
Matus’ white 1998 Isuzu Rodeo was found on Sunday in a remote sugar cane field about 10 miles from the bar said DeVoursney’s brother, David.
DeVoursney’s family was expecting Drew DeVoursney to fly home to Atlanta later this week.
Drew DeVoursney grew up in Nashville. He attended Montreat College in North Carolina, and joined the Marines after 9/11 terrorist attacks and served in Iraq.
DeVoursney was a disabled veteran, but was was scheduled to enroll in a technical college in Georgia this month to get his heavy equipment license.
