PV Sindhu And Saina Nehwal Advances In World Badminton Championships

In Jakarta, PV Sindhu shocked London Olympics champion Li Xuerui of China and entered the quarterfinal of the world badminton championships. Meanwhile, beating Japan's Sayaka Takahashi, 14th seed, the second seed Saina Nehwal is also in line for her maiden podium finish in the world championship.

Today’s match is 11th seeded Sindhu’s biggest wins of her career. In the pulsating contest which went on for 50 minutes, third seed Li was upset with 21-17, 14-21, 21-17.
Sindhu would face either top seed Carolina Marin, All England champion, or Chinese Wang Shixian, seventh seed, if she wins quarterfinal match.

Sayaka Takahashi was beaten by Saina Nehwal 21-18, 21-14 within 46 minutes in the neck-and-neck contest. Saina recovered fiercely from 7-0 down in the first game. Saina actually won big points when it was needed against her tough opponent Sayaka.
Saina won a three-setter in the last year world championship in Copenhagen. It was her better court craft that aided her to make to a seven-point win (21-14). It is likely that Saina will face sixth seed Chinese Wang Yihan in the Round of 8.
