PV Sindhu created a sensation in the ongoing Tokyo Olympics after she won a bronze medal in the women's singles. The 26-year-old badminton player is the first woman from India to win two Olympic medals. PV Sindhu defeated He Bingjiao from China with 21-13, 21-15 and bagged a bronze medal on Sunday. This is a historic achievement lauded the entire nation right from the Prime Minister to the film celebrities. PV Sindhu won Silver medal in Rio Olympics and this time she ended up with a bronze. After she lost in the semi-final, PV Sindhu had to fight for bronze and won the match in 53 minutes.
PV Sindhu is also the second Indian athlete to win two Olympic medals after Indian wrestler Sushil Kumar. He was arrested in connection with a murder case in New Delhi. PV Sindhu also joined the club and is the fourth player to win multiple medals in the Olympic games. PV Sindhu joined South Korea's Bang Soo Hyun, China's Zhang Ning, Susi Susanti from Indonesia who won multiple medals in Olympics. PV Sindhu shot fame after she won a bronze medal in 2014's Asian Games. PV Sindhu also emerged as the first Indian badminton player to win a silver medal in Olympics. She also won a gold medal in 2018 Commonwealth Games.
