Indian skipper Virat Kohli recently shocked the nation after he announced that he would step down as the captain for Team India for the format of T20s after completing the T20 World Cup that will start next month. The top batsman also announced last night that he would step down from the captaincy of IPL team Royal Challengers Banglore (RCB). Virat Kohli posted an emotional video on his social media page along with the announcement. Virat Kohli promised to be more consistent as a batsman and he cited the reason to skip as the captain.
“This will be my last IPL as captain of RCB. I shall continue to be an RCB player till I play my last IPL game. I thank all the RCB fans for believing in me and supporting me.” posted Virat in the video. Virat Kohli also announced that he would continue to serve RCB till be plays IPL. Virat Kohli took charge as the captain for RCB in 2012. Despite performing well in most of the seasons, Virat Kohli and RCB could not lift the trophy till date. Though he was criticized, most of his fans supported Virat Kohli and RCB. In 2016, Virat Kohli scored 973 runs for IPL as he took the team to the final on a single hand. Virat Kohli is now leading the team as captain for the last time this year. RCB will play their first match today with KKR.
