The conclusion of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction has significantly changed the financial landscape of Indian cricket. Rishabh Pant set a new record, being acquired by the Lucknow Super Giants for a staggering 27 crore Indian rupees. Other notable purchases include Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer, who were bought for 26.75 crore and 23.75 crore, respectively. In terms of player retention, Virat Kohli remains the top choice, with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) agreeing to pay him 21 crore to keep him on the team. As a result of these lucrative contracts, Rishabh Pant has now emerged as the highest-earning Indian cricketer, earning a total of 32 crore rupees annually from his cricketing commitments, surpassing Virat Kohli's 28 crore rupees.

Rishabh Pant is considered one of the top players in the country, earning 21 crore rupees annually from his IPL team RCB. This, combined with his other earnings, brings his total income to around 28 crore rupees. Pant's earnings may further increase when the new BCCI central contracts are announced next year, as he is a key player for the Indian team across all three formats. This could lead to Virat Kohli, who is no longer part of the T20 squad, being demoted to a lower pay category. Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer, who were high earners in the recent IPL auction, are not currently part of the BCCI central contracts, but Shreyas may still be included if he regains his place in the Indian team.
