After months of beta testing, Android 15 was finally released on Tuesday, Android announced in a blog post. The source code is also published on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), allowing developers to create and port custom variants of the operating system (OS) for their devices. The company also confirmed that Android 15 will be available in the coming weeks, starting with the flagship Google Pixel smartphones. This development comes months after reports that the operating system had achieved “platform stability.” In a blog post, Android announced that the source code for the latest operating system will be available in AOSP, the source code repository that contains Android's core operating system. Developers can access it and help develop and improve Android. In the coming weeks, Android 15 will be available to download on supported Google Pixel smartphones, including the latest Pixel 9 series. Additionally, eligible devices from other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) such as Samsung, Honor, iQOO, Lenovo, Motorola, Nothing, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Sharp, Sony, Tecno, Vivo, Xiaomi, etc. will receive updates.

According to the platform, the latest operating system offers new ways to further customize the app experience, allowing developers to improve app performance and run on any version of Android. These include ApplicationStartInfo, PdfRenderer, OpenJDK and SQLite APIs. In addition, Android version 15 also introduced Matrix44 and other canvas design features, allowing developers to manipulate canvases in 3D and create complex shapes using the current shader intersection or shader difference. It also improves internationalization and typography through features such as creating new font families and improving language alignment. The update also includes camera and media improvements that allow the phone to adjust volume, control HDR headspace, and improve low-light conditions. Android version 15 gives users the ability to save their favorite split app combinations, talkback support for braille displays, OS-level support for app archiving and uninstallation, One Pass sign-in, and private user space you can save your personal data.
