As soon as the company releases new models, it would discontinue the older models, as per a report.
Apple is likely to announce the iPhone 12 series in October this year and a report has claimed that as soon as the new models of iPhones get released in the market, the old models of iPhones will be discontinued.
As per a latest news, Apple is likely to discontinue the iPhone XR models after the iPhone 12 launches in India.
The company cites that the availability of the more powerful model like iPhone 2020 as a better alternative has led the company to make the decision to discard the older models like iPhone 11 and iPhone XR.
iPhone XR has been a hot selling device like iPhone 11. Apple will not discontinue the iPhone 11 as it has already broken several records till date but the company may announce further price drop on this device.
In addition to this, Apple may also announce the discontinuation of the iPhone 11 pro and iPhone 11 pro max as they have the successors.
Apple has taken a similar decision last year when it launched the iPhone 11 series as it discontinued the iPhone XS and iPhone XS max.
Apple is expected to launch four new iPhones under the iPhone 12 series which would include two premium variants.
The iPhone 12 Pro will come in 6.1 inch or 6.7 inch sizes and may feature a high refresh rate at 120MHz Pro motion display which is presently seen on iPad Pro.
The rear camera module on the iPhone 12 will feature four sensors with a LiDAR scanner which was introduced in the recently launched Apple iPad Pro.
All four iPhone models are expected to feature OLED displays and 5G support, as famed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously claimed.
Apple is also planning to launch the iPhone 12 in the middle of 2021 by producing it locally in India.
This is not the first time that iPhone is being manufactured in India but the seventh time giving a boost to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for self-reliance or Atma Nirbhar Bharat.
The production is expected to begin at Bengaluru’s Narsapuram plant which is home to Apple’s Taiwanese manufacturer Wistron.
Apple is expected to hire about 10,000 employees for this project and 70% of these jobs would be given to the locals in India. According to a report, Apple has already hired 2000 employees in India.
