A crowd of 65,000 audience broke into a deafening cheer as world's fastest sprinter, Usain Bolt, bolted to win the first run of the season in the first night of the Anniversary Games.
He clocked a season-best 9.85 seconds in a 100 meter race.
The 26-year-old sprinter, who has six Olympic gold to his name, said after winning the race, "I love coming here. The fans give you so much energy and this is what makes me run faster."
"I am pleased with the time I did even if I was a little slow off the blocks and I had to play catch up. There is a lot of room for improvement. I am getting there and Moscow is going to be great,” he added.
Bolt entertained the crowd with his trademark pose after sprinting the winning line in 9.85 flat seconds.
Despite a lack lustre start, the Jamaican reached his 13 hundredths ahead of American Mike Rodgers.
Bolt, riding high on his winning streak after Beijing at last summer's London 2012 Games, says he is thrilled by the prospect of returning to The Stadium where he has bagged three gold medals in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay race in the past.
Bolt had earlier said "I'm just here to do my best and prove to the world that it is possible to run clean and run hard".
