The Indian team in the 4x400 m mixed relay final ended up securing the seventh position in the World Athletics Championships, putting in their absolute best in terms of the efforts and team spirit.
The team consisted of four athletes including Muhammed Anas, VK Vismaya, Jisna Mathew and Tom Nirmal Noah and then completed their race with a pitch mark of 3 minutes 15.77 seconds to complete the race and finished in the seventh position amidst the eight countries that participated. The event was held on September 29th, 2019.
The time hatch was a little lesser than that of the 3 minutes 15.71 seconds mark that secured the team the gold medal in the Asian Games that was conducted last year.
Anas was the one leading the race by kicking off in the start in the lane number 8, gaining a lead in the second leg as well. It was Vismaya was who running last. Following passing of the baton to the third leg runner, Jisna, they ended up colliding with the second leg runner of another country, ending up causing the time lag that stretched them to the last position through the race.
Following the completion of the third leg, the baton was passed on to Noah who recovered a bit but still then, India ended up securing the seventh position in the race in the end, leaving Brazil in the eighth and the last position.
It was United States who secured the first position, with a record timing of 3 minutes 3 minutes 9.34 seconds with a team debuting in the championships. Jamaica secured the second position with timing of 3 minutes 11.78 seconds followed by Bahrain who had a timing of 3 minutes 11.82 seconds, securing the bronze in the race.
The World Athletics Championships have started from September 27th, 2019 and will go on till October 06th, 2019. It is the seventeeth edition of the competition and is being held at Doha, Qatar at the Khalifa International Stadium.
