Congress general secretary Janardhan Dwivedi said that party president Sonia Gandhi has returned to Delhi this morning after a routine medical check up abroad.

Disclosing this to media persons in Delhi, Dwivedi said she was absolutely fine and cheerful. It might be said that Sonia had left for a foreign destination on Feb 27 for medical check up following a surgery six months ago for an undisclosed ailment.

Dwivedi didn’t disclose the details of the foreign country where she visited or the name of the hospital where she underwent medical check- up.

Though not confirmed, the ailment was said to be cancer and she reportedly underwent a surgery at a New York Hospital six months ago. (J)
