Clashes erupted at ashram of god man Rampal in Hisar, Haryana on Tuesday between police and supporters even it lead to lobbing tear gas shells and using lathicharge to disperse his supporters.
Number of people were injured in the violence at the Satlok Ashram.
The stand-off which has been continuing for several days between the authorities and Rampal's supporters took a violent turn on Tuesday
Born in a farmer's family in Dhanana village in Haryana's Sonepat district on 8 September 1951, Rampal grew to become a junior engineer in Haryana's Irrigation Department.
Rampal's remained as govt servant until 2000 when he was apparently forced to resign due to carelessness in work.
He became an follower of one Swami Ramdevanand's and neglected his official duties.
Rampal was still engineer who himself followed 15th century mystic poet saint Kabir, after Ramdevanand' ask him to joinn and make people to take naaam according to a reports.
Later, Rampal too became a follower of Saint Kabir and started calling himself an incarnation of the famous mystic poet, according to Business Standard.
He began his journey as a "godman" from Karontha village, near Rohtak, where he established his ashram in 1999. He began preaching to his followers, mostly from the lower strata of society, to not worship Hindu gods.
He challenged and questioned the orignity of hind gods and the popular interpretations of Hindu scriptures.
His notoriety was back in media because rampal dint appear in front of court because of the 2006 incident were his followers turned violent clash with the village and opened fire at them ,one of the villager was killed .
After he was booked case and was in jail for 18 months ,got released on bail since 2010 and was missing his court hearing failed to appear in front of Punjab and Haryana High Court for the 43rd time, according to news reports.
