Another shameful incident of gang rape hit the national capital last night when a 51-year-old Danish woman was beaten, robbed and raped at knife point by a gang of unidentified assailants in Connaught Place, near New Delhi Railway Station.

The lady was on a tourist visa to India and had gone to visit the National Museum when she lost her way back to her hotel in Paharganj. It was then that a group of vagabonds blocked her way, robbed and sexually assaulted her. She somehow reached her hotel and informed the police and the Danish embassy, but reportedly left the country this morning.

Police officials say that she refused to undergo a medical test and took a flight to Copehangen. The victim, who was in India for the past one week, first visited Agra and arrived at the capital on Tuesday.

Delhi police have arrested six suspects on the basis of information provided by the woman. A case of gang rape under section 376 G (2) of IPC and robbery has been registered and Delhi Police teams are raiding several places to nab the suspects.
