Dog biting is one of the grievous problems that we come across and the incidents of rabies deaths are also increasing in the country due to negligence of people and unavailability of vaccinations in some remote parts of the country. When a stray dog bites, there’s no other option to a person except approaching a doctor, but what if a pet dog bites? Well, we can file an FIR in the police station like a senior IPS official in Lucknow of Uttar Pradesh.
If we look into details, IPS official RPS Rathod was attacked by a pet dog on April 11 when he went out for a morning walk. Rathod, on getting to know that it was a pet dog, filed an FIR with the local police station under IPC sections 286 and 326 for negligence and voluntary hurt.
The sources said that the owner of the dog is an IAS officer working in the same city. The police, however, denied to reveal the name of the dog owner. Reportedly, this is the first time in the country wherein a person filed FIR on the owner over the dog bite. Dog owners will apparently become more careful if such FIRs are filed. (Phani)
