Uttar Pradesh is home to thousands of Durga Shakti Nagpals! Even while the news of suspended IAS official draws a big buzz, know that there are scores of other civil servants and law enforcers in Uttar Pradesh who have functioned and faded away at the whims and wrath of politicians.

The rancor doesn't stop there. Even middle rank officials are relegated from one post to another and from one destination to another at the drop of a hat.

A close inspection at the transfer orders administered by Akhilesh Yadav government reveals a staggering number of 2,000 senior police and administrative officials have been deported in last 1 year. That isn't all. At times, officials are handed pink slip without any extenuation.

"All of us know that when A government is formed (in UP), who will be handpicked for top jobs and who will get plum postings when B party comes to power," a disgusted senior IAS officer said.

Three times in the past three months, Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, his son and CM of UP Akhilesh Yadav and his ministers have defied the public servants to come to heel, obey and oblige to party workers or bite the bullet.

Subjection or bootlicking and not conduct has become the benchmark for postings and promotions, says a senior official. Brown-nosing has become so important that the ruling party doesn't fear overlooking Supreme Court directives.

Termination of officials remains a raging concern in Uttar Pradesh. On an average, a police official is suspended in every third day. In the last four years until 2012, as many as 510 police officials have been terminated from their jobs.

It's quite clear that the suspension thing is nothing but arm twisting act by the government to make the officials toe their line.

The big question, however, is that will there ever be an end to this malfeasance? India needs an answer.
