Mr Akhilesh Yadav, president of the Samajwadi Party’s UP unit, was sworn in as the 33rd chief minister of the state in Lucknow today.

Governor B.L. Joshi administered the oath of office to the 38-year old leader at a simple ceremony at the Raj Bhavan in the presence of several prominent political leaders including his father Mulayam Singh Yadav and other family members.

Along with Akhilesh Yadav, the youngest ever chief minister to hold the post, 19 cabinet ministers and 29 ministers of state also took oath. (J)
