Is it necessary for college students to shave off beard to attend their classes?

A college at bangalore was targeted by the annoyance of the Muslim community after the student of Class XII was asked to shave his beard or stay away from the classes.

Initially this problem started with M. Zeeshan Ali last year, who started sporting a beard. Later, the situation turned to worsen this year as college management asked him to shave his beard to maintain "similarity" among the students.
Zeeshan's father, Iqbal Ahmed said that Zeeshan contacted the college management to consider about relaxing the rule being imposed by the college authorities. But college authorities declared that it would not be entertained. Further, they asked him to trim the beard or to apply for transfer. The college management was almost ready to issue a transfer certificate.
Finally, this trouble pointed out towards having protests in front of the college. Later, the Tipu Sultan United Front filed a complaint with the cops claiming discrimination based on relegion.
