Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded Kuwait's highest honor, 'The Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer,' today. This was the 20th international award he has received from a country. The 'Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer' is Kuwait's knighthood order, given to heads of state, foreign sovereigns, and members of foreign royal families as a sign of friendship. Past recipients include Bill Clinton, Prince Charles, and George Bush. PM Modi was given a ceremonial guard of honor at the Bayan Palace, with the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah, present during the ceremony.

The Kuwaiti leader Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah welcomed the first visit by an Indian prime minister in 43 years. The Indian community in Kuwait eagerly anticipated PM Modi's speech at the 'Hala Modi' community event at the Shaikh Saad Al Abdullah Indoor Sports Complex. On Saturday, PM Modi visited the Gulf Spic employees camp in Kuwait, where he acknowledged the Indian workers' contributions to Kuwait's growth.
