Indian-American entrepreneur, venture capitalist and author Sriram Krishnan has been appointed by Donald Trump as the White House's top policy adviser on artificial intelligence. Trump announced the appointment along with several others, saying, "Sriram Krishnan will serve as the senior policy adviser on artificial intelligence in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy." Trump described Krishnan's role this way: "Sriram will work closely with David Sachs." together to maintain America's leadership in artificial intelligence." He will play a key role in shaping and coordinating AI policy across government agencies, working with the President's Council of Science and Technology Advisors. Sriram's career began at Microsoft, where he made significant contributions to Windows Azure for its development.

Before starting his career at Microsoft, Sriram Krishnan graduated from SRM Valliammai College of Engineering in Tamil Nadu, where he was instrumental in the development of Windows Azure APIs and services. He later wrote the book Programming Windows Azure, published by O'Reilly. He joined Facebook in 2013 and was instrumental in expanding its mobile app advertising platform. He worked at Snap until 2019, then at Twitter (now X), where he helped transform the platform together with Elon Musk. In 2021, Krishnan became a general partner at Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), and in 2023 he headed the firm's first international office in London. Krishnan advises Indian fintech company Cred and co-hosts the popular podcast The Arti and Sriram Show with his wife Arti Ramamurthy.
