M. Karunanidhi, former Chief Minister and President of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), have condemned the recent destruction of a mosque located inside a Buddhist sacred area at Dambulla in Matalae district of Sri Lanka.
In reply to a question posed by a reporter on Sunday, he said, several versions on the incident were heard.
Karunanidhi alleged that the Srilankan government head by Rajapaksa was keen on Sinhala domination giving priority only to Sinhalese and Buddhism. Buddhism is Sri Lanka’s state religion and monks are powerful in political and social affairs.
“The civilized world will not accept such an attack on people of other religions and such actions are deplorable,” said Karunanidhi. (msn)
