As a part of precautionary measures, the Central bureau of Investigations Chief stationed at the Dilsukha Guest house, Hyderabad, since some time is provided with additional security. The CBI Joint Director VV Laxminarayana had been given special security owing to his probe into high level cases for the past several months. The investigation heats up with the charge-sheets filing against prominent leaders and bureaucrats. The government felt it necessary to give the Chief, two guards who will escort him round the clock and a bullet proof car for his commutation. Police sources informed at Hyderabad on Monday, that the CBI Chief is being provided 'Y' category security.
As per sources the CBI Chief is in much controversy, since he is handling high profile sensitive cases like disproportionate assets case against the YSR Congress Chief Jagan Mohan Reddy and the Sohrabuddin encounter case involving top police officials of Gujarat and Rajasthan.
A total of four security guards were sanctioned for the CBI Chief. Police security would also be provided at his office and residence. The Security Review Committee (SRC) took this decision after the CBI was ready with the Charge-sheets in the sensitive cases handled by the agency. The 1990 batch IPS officer from Maharashtra cadre is in-charge of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
