Cricket Australia took the opportunity to mock the Indian cricket team after they performed poorly in the first innings of the Bengaluru Test on October 17. India were outmatched by New Zealand, being dismissed for just 46 runs, their lowest total at home and third-lowest in Test history. Cricket Australia posted the highlights of India's batting collapse against Australia in 2020, asking if "All Out 46" was the new "All Out 36." Despite this embarrassing performance, India would go on to win the series 2-1. The tweet from Cricket Australia comes before this year's Border Gavaskar Trophy, which starts in November. India had a disastrous outing against New Zealand just a week after their memorable victory in Kanpur, being bowled out for a low total on the second day of the first Test.
The Indian cricket team's batting performance was dismal, as they were dismissed for a mere 46 runs in just 31.2 overs during the test match in Bengaluru. This was their third-lowest total in test history and their lowest-ever score in a home test. The collapse was triggered by the New Zealand pacers, with William O'Rourke and Matt Henry causing havoc after veteran Tim Southee dismissed the Indian captain Rohit Sharma early on. Opting to bat first under gloomy conditions on a damp pitch proved costly for India, as five of their batters, including Virat Kohli, Sarfaraz Khan, Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul, and R Ashwin, were dismissed for ducks, leaving the hosts in complete disarray. This total of 46 runs set a new record for the lowest test score in the subcontinent, surpassing the previous mark set by the West Indies against Pakistan in 1986. It also became the lowest test score ever recorded on Indian soil, breaking the previous record set by New Zealand against India in 2021.
