The thrilling Bengaluru Test lived up to its expectations, as New Zealand worked hard to secure their first Test victory in India in 36 years. Under overcast skies, the ball moved significantly, Jasprit Bumrah threatened to take a wicket with every delivery, and the crowd constantly appealed, but New Zealand weathered it all to reach the target of 107 with relative ease. Will Young provided the calming presence after Bumrah dismissed Tom Latham early, while Devon Conway withstood the blows and maintained his composure. Bumrah eventually dismissed Conway, but by then, New Zealand had already scored 35 runs. The fielders played their part, saving at least 11 runs. However, India's miscalculation of the pitch once again proved costly, as they lacked a third seamer to exploit the conditions, allowing Young and Rachin Ravindra to comfortably chase down the remaining runs.

Latham thought he had the inswinger covered, but the ball moved even more after pitching to dismiss him. Conway believed he had the angle covered, but the ball swung after bouncing, changing direction to beat his outside edge and trap him in front. Bumrah, in his seventh over, got two boundaries from Ravindra, the first-innings centurion, putting India in control. Young and Ravindra then scored boundaries against the spinners, not trusting the weather to hold up after lunch, and Young even hit a powerful six off Kuldeep Yadav. This victory marks the team's third Test win in India, their first such achievement since 1988.
