For a change, for your Guy!

Every day we talk about n number of features that cater to improvise our look for a better… for a change, let us think about our guy. Let us talk about how to choose the best suit fabric for him, that would enhance his manly looks;

If you have ever thought about investing in a custom suit, or even an "off the rack" suit for that matter, I'm sure you've been bombarded (and maybe even a little confused) by all of the options available. Do you need a double-breasted jacket or single? How about pleats? What color? Which fabric option is best? The list can go on and on. Fortunately, selecting your suit's fabric should be a reasonably easy decision. Here's how you should go about deciding.

First, you should consider the climate you live in. If you live in an area with relatively mild summers and cold winters, you might consider a heavier, warmer fabric. On the other hand, if you live in a hot climate, you may consider a lighter, more breathable fabric. Think about it - a man living in Texas or Arizona would probably require a lighter, cooler suit than a man who lives in Chicago or New York.

Next, consider the primary use of the suit. Will you be using your suit everyday for work? Or will your suit be used for more formal, evening occasions, such as a wedding or holiday party suit? As you probably guessed, a better quality of fabric is more appropriate for an evening or formal suit, while you may choose a slightly lesser quality fabric for everyday use. Because a suit used on a regular basis needs to be cleaned more often and is exposed to sunlight and other environmental deterioration, it tends to wear a little faster. For these reasons it is best to opt for a good quality suit, but not necessarily top of the line, for everyday use.

Lastly, think about the image you hope to project. If you are the type of man who is looking for a "power suit" to project an assertive, powerful image, consider a finer quality of fabric. A better quality of fabric will also help to project an expensive, luxurious image. If you are looking for a more understated look, consider a slightly lesser, but still good, quality fabric. While you do not want a cheap looking suit (mobster zoot suits aren't the best looks either), a mid-line good quality fabric is perfect for the "every man".

As you may have noticed, wool is the traditional suit fabric. Wool is a great fabric choice for your next suit, because it drapes well, maintains its shape, can be lightweight and breathable OR warm and cozy, and can even be more formal looking for evening use (worsted wool). No matter how many times you were your wool suit, take your suit to the dry cleaner, and haul it around in a garment bag, it will hold up well. So now you might be wondering how to determine the quality of different wools. Well, here's how.
