Bad breath can be very embarrassing, especially in public or intimate moments with your partner. Usually we think that teeth will disappear if we brush them twice a day, but in some cases it may persist even after brushing. So what is the reason and why is this happening? Studies have shown that brushing your teeth when you wake up and before bed can help prevent gum disease and tooth decay, but does not prevent bad breath. Here are some of the causes of bad breath.
Respiratory infections: Respiratory infections such as bronchitis, sinusitis, and pneumonia can cause bad breath. In these infections, bacteria grow in the airways and produce odor molecules that are released when you breathe.
Digestive problems: Digestive disorders such as reflux esophagitis, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and stomach ulcers can lead to bad breath. Acid reflux occurs when stomach acid flows back into the esophagus, causing bad breath. A study conducted by the University of Adelaide found that people with gastric reflux are more likely to suffer from bad breath than others.
Diabetes: Diabetes is caused by high blood sugar levels and can cause various problems, including bad breath. Severe diabetes can cause a distinctive fruity breath odor known as acetone breath. A study published in the Journal of Diabetes Research confirms the connection between diabetes and bad breath. The only way to treat bad breath is to lower blood sugar levels.
Kidney Problems: When bad water in the body mixes with the kidneys, it affects the kidneys. It also causes a combination of toxins in the blood. This leads to bad breath called uremic halitosis, according to a study by researchers at the University of California, Los Angeles. Doctors warn that bad smell can also be a symptom of this disease.
Liver diseases: Liver diseases such as fatty liver disease are also cited as the cause of bad breath. Bad breath occurs due to the accumulation of toxins in the body. When liver function declines, it accumulates in the body and causes bad breath. If you can't get rid of bad breath no matter how often you brush your mouth, this could be the reason.
