Google's Pixel 9, along with the Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, made their debut in August of the previous year. Anticipation surrounds the Pixel 9a as it is likely to be released soon as a budget-friendly option in the series. Numerous leaks have already provided insights into its design, camera features, and battery details. A recent report has disclosed the expected release date of the Pixel 9a. Historically, Google has introduced its Pixel A models during the annual Google I/O event in May. However, the latest information suggests that the Pixel 9a will be launched earlier than the usual schedule, with pre-orders commencing in mid-March. As per reports from Android Headlines, which cites unspecified sources, pre-orders for the Pixel 9a are set to begin on March 19. The device is expected to be shipped one week later, on March 26, and will likely be available in physical stores on the same day. The new rumored release date implies a potential shift in Google's strategy regarding the launch timing of Pixel A series smartphones. Previous iterations, such as the Pixel 8a and Pixel 7a, were unveiled at the Google I/O events in May.
The Pixel 9a is anticipated to retail for $499 (approximately Rs. 42,000) for the version with 128GB of storage in the United States. It is expected to feature a 6.285-inch Actua display, boasting a maximum brightness of 2,700 nits and HDR brightness at 1,800 nits. This display is said to be protected by Gorilla Glass 3. The device may operate on a Google Tensor G4 chip, complemented by a Titan M2 security chip and 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM. The phone is likely to come in two storage options: 128GB or 256GB utilizing UFS 3.1 technology. On its rear side, the Pixel 9a is rumored to incorporate a dual-camera system featuring a 48-megapixel main camera and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide Sony IMX712 sensor. It is expected to include a 5,100mAh battery with support for 23W wired charging and 7.5W wireless charging. Furthermore, it may offer IP68 certification for water and dust resistance.
