A parent pepper-spraying students at Carver High School on Wednesday, Channel 2 Action News reported. According to an Atlanta Public Schools spokeswoman, Shawanda Favors allegedly discharged pepper spray into a crowd of students. One student was taken to a hospital.
Kimberly Willis Green said that, Favors was charged with disorderly conduct. The incident took place as students were entering the building. Four other students required treatment but were not taken to the hospital, she said.
The Channel 2 reported, Favors’ son was getting beat up by students at the school. That’s when Favors allegedly pulled out a can of pepper spray to protect her son against his attackers.
Green said that, “The parent was apprehended by the Atlanta Public Schools Police Department and charged for her inappropriate conduct.”
The incident is investigating by the school system’s police department. Favors is in the Fulton County jail on a $1,403 bond.
