According to a recent report circulated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Earth has had the fifth hottest June ever this year.

The average global temperature recorded last month stood at 61.05 F (16.14 C), the same as recorded in 2006 summer. This year's June temperature was 1.15 F (0.64 C) above the 20th century average of 59.9 F (15.5 C), the report further revealed.

The summer broke all monthly records across northern Canada, southern Japan, western Russia, part of southwestern China, the Philippines, and central southern Africa this year June.

The United States recorded its 15th-warmest June his year.

What's more, the U.S. received generous amount of rainfall this year, amidst all the heat. The U.S. East Coast received more rainfall than average in June.

California, on the other hand, the driest June ever.

While the heat baked much of the world, parts of Central Asia, India and western Europe recorded cooler temperatures than usual in June.
