iPhone production in India has reached $10 billion (around Rs. 84,000 crore) on a freight-forward (FoB) basis during April-October 2025, IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnau said in a report on Monday. This represents a growth of 37% over the same period in FY24, thanks to the government's Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. Most iPhone production was exported to other markets and only a small portion met domestic demand for Apple devices. Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnau cited a report from Business Insider detailing Apple's increased production in India. The Cupertino-based tech giant's $10 billion (Rs 84,000 crore) FoB generation is estimated at $15 billion (approximately Rs 100,000 crore) after accounting for customer sales, sales, marketing, logistics and margins.

Of this, iPhone models worth around $7 billion (approximately ₹59,000 crore) were exported. The report notes that October was the peak of FY25 for the company as production crossed the $2 billion (roughly Rs. 16,000 crore) mark in the month. This is a milestone for Apple in India. The government PLI system is said to have contributed significantly to Apple's growth in India. According to both companies as part of the initiative, Foxconn is the country's top iPhone maker, accounting for 56 percent of the company's total production capacity. The Tata Group now holds a 30% stake in the newly acquired Wistron plant. Pegatron is another Taiwanese manufacturer that Apple relies on for 14% of its iPhone production in India.

Thanks to this growth, Apple has reportedly created 175,000 jobs in the last four years, with more than 72% of positions held by Indian women. The report suggests that Apple is targeting higher numbers as part of its future growth plans. FY25 FoB is targeted at $18 billion (approximately Rs. 150,000 crore), translating to over $25 billion (approximately Rs. 2.1 lakh crore).
