On Tuesday, twin earthquakes shook western Nepal. The earthquake with magnitude 6.3 and 5.3 struck Bajhang district, which triggered landslides. Twin earthquakes happened at around 2:30 PM while there were lower tremors again at 3:06 PM and 3:19 PM with slightly lower magnitude.
Visuals are shared online, where the public is running outside of their homes and offices. 17 people were injured and several roads in the region have been blocked because of the landslides. One person was injured by a falling object while some houses collapsed in Chainpur town. In Bajhang 5 people were injured and admitted to the district hospital. Two students were also injured according to the media. In total seven women and four men were injured in the incident. One woman went missing after the landslide triggered by the earthquake. According to reports, the earthquake lasted for around 40 seconds.
The roads of the Southern plains have been blocked, said Rama Acharya, an interior ministry official. The quakes happened in an interval of 30 minutes, centred between Talkot and Chainpur. The tremors also reached New Delhi. In Delhi also people ran out of their offices and witnessed tremors by things falling out from tables.
