NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden is being considered for Nobel Prize.

A Swedish sociology professor has recommended Nobel Peace Prize for the fugitive.

In a letter written to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, Professor Stefan Svallfors recommended a Nobel Prize for Snowden, eulogizing his 'heroic effort at great personal cost' to bring to surface the  cyber-spying carried on by the U.S. National Security Agency.

“Because of his bravery, Snowden 'helped to make the world a little bit better and safer,” Svallfors wrote.

In his letter, Svallfors has compared Snowden's act to the rulings in the Nuremberg trials of 1945.

Svallfors also opines that giving the Peace Prize to Snowden will help it regain much of its respect, that was it lost after Barack Obama won the award in 2009.

'It would show its willingness to stand up in defense of civil liberties and human rights, even when such a defense [could] be viewed with disfavor by the world's dominant military power.'

However, it  is too late for Snowden to receive the award this year. Nominations for Nobel prize must be sent by February 1 latest to be considered for December awards.

Nevertheless, if not this year, then Snowden's nomination should be considered for next year's prize.

Being a professor of sociology professor at Umeå University, Svallfors ranks among those 'qualified' people who can nominate people for the prestigious prize.
