US Student visas improve by 50% over past year

American University degrees were the most sought after statures in the last decade and the trend has fallen over the last two years. The US consulate however has acted quickly before the demand and the desire fell too far. The most recent data shows that there has been a 50% increase in the number of visas being provided to Indian students during compared to the last year.

This is likely to spark another rush for the educational services in America. Over 100,270 students from India are in the US currently pursuing their education.

In the past year since October 2012 to February 2013, there have been 5,600 US visas that have been issued, taking up the stats 50% higher than the year before. The Open Door report 2012 has recoded statistics that the numbers of Indian students in the U.S. fell by almost 3.5%  in 2011-2012. The decline started in 2010 continuing in the next year too but the trend seems to have caught the growth drift.

Earlier in early 2000s until 2009, Indian students accounted for the most number of international students in US but in 2008-09 we lost the place to china. 13.1% of international students in US are Indians.

US embassy consul general Josh Glazeroff said, "We are seeing really big growth in student visa issuance so far....For us it is a huge jump....really positive. We think this is in response to all the outreach we have been doing."

The business and tourism section has fared much better with a record 12% hike in the number of visas issued last year (500,000) making it the best in five years.
