Imran Khan applied to become the next chancellor of Oxford University. Former Pakistani Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) chief, who was jailed now applied to become the chancellor of Oxford University. Despite his legal troubles, he is looking for career options, currently, Khan is still in jail. His party, PTI, took to social media and informed about Imran Khan’s latest interest and also confirmed that they have formally submitted the request to the University as a request to become the next chancellor via the party’s London bases Spokesperson, Sayed Zulfikar Bukhari. Imran Khan is a philanthropist, an alumnus of Oxford University, and a cricket legend. He is also called as a Pakistani hero by many. The PTI post read, “Pakistan's national hero and Former Prime Minister Imran Khan, founder and chairman of Pakistan’s biggest political party PTI, a cricketing legend, a philanthropist and an alumnus of Oxford University, is running for the position of Chancellor of Oxford University, all while being imprisoned. Despite being unlawfully incarcerated for over a year, Khan remains committed to his principles and the causes he champions. Zulfi Bukhari has confirmed that the application has been formally submitted”.

Conservation peer, Chris Patten, the last British governor of Hong Kong, declared in February that he resigned as Oxford's chancellor. The list of candidates for Oxford University's chancellor for the term of 10 years will be confidential till October as per the university’s website. By the end of this month, there will be voting. Imran Khan graduated from Oxford University in 1975 in Philosophy, politics and economics. He was married three times, British socialite and film-maker Jemima Goldsmith, who served as chancellor of the University of Bradford from 2005 to 2014 is also his wife. Khan had a playboy lifestyle when was playing cricket. He was regularly news for Britain’s gossip magazines. He served as the Pakistan Prime Minister from 2018 to 2022. While Khan was serving as the prime minister he was criticised for women’s rights, where he linked Pakistans’ high rates of sexual violence to the clothes that women wear. In 2022, Imran Khan was ousted as Prime Minister after he failed to secure the confidence vote. He objected and criticised the military and politicians. Even though he was ousted, he had support from certain groups of the public. Khan was arrested last year for alleged links with corruption and inciting violence in the country. He is even now motivated that he will return to power. Imran Khan is in jail for a year.
