Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan lost the no-trust vote in the Assembly after which he submitted his resignation. Shehbaz Sharif, the opposition leader and the younger brother to ex-Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is nominated as the joint candidate for the Prime Minister's election that will take place today. Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Party (PTI) nominated Shah Mahmood Qureshi as their candidate for the election. The no-confidence motion against Imran Khan was held on Saturday night and 174 voted against Imran Khan.
Ex-Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will return back to Pakistan after Eid from London. Imran Khan and his party is keen to stage protests across the country after he lost in the no-trust vote. The protest campaign will start on Wednesday. A large number of supporters of Tehreek-i-Insaf staged protests in Lahore near the Liberty Chowk. The rally also had the presence of women and children. The rally started on Sunday at 9 PM and it continued till 3 AM today. There were protests seen in the districts of Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala, Vehari, Jehlum and Gujrat. Imran Khan after losing the no-trust vote said that the freedom struggle begins again. Imran Khan's Tehreek-e-Insaf Party (PTI) also decided to resign from the National Assembly today.
