According to sources, the Indian government has made an official appeal to Pakistan, requesting the extradition of Hafiz Saeed, the founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and the architect behind the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. The Ministry of External Affairs has sent a formal request to the Pakistani government, urging them to commence the legal proceedings for Saeed's extradition. Saeed, who is considered one of India's most wanted terrorists and carries a $10 million reward from the US, has been implicated in the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

India has persistently sought his extradition for trial, but the lack of an extradition treaty between India and Pakistan complicates the matter. Despite his claims of innocence and disavowal of leadership within LeT, Saeed has encountered numerous legal obstacles over the years. He was initially apprehended in July 2019 and subsequently sentenced to 11 years imprisonment just prior to Pakistan's review by the Financial Action Task Force. In April of the previous year, documentation revealed that a Pakistani court had sentenced Saeed to 31 years in prison for his involvement in terrorism financing. However, it remains uncertain whether he is incarcerated, as certain reports suggest that he continues to roam freely after being released from house arrest in 2017.

Hafiz Saeed's son, Talha Saeed, has experienced multiple arrests and releases throughout the previous decade. In the previous year, India classified Talha Saeed as a terrorist according to the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). Currently, Talha Saeed is making arrangements to participate in the forthcoming general elections in Pakistan. He will be representing the Pakistan Markazi Muslim League (PMML), a political party established by his father.
