Sri Lankan Court Bans Mahinda Rajapaksa and Others to Travel Abroad

Sri Lanka is battling with financial stress and the nation is badly hit. Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa submitted his resignation after the country witnessed wide protests. Mahinda Rajapaksa and his family have been hiding in a naval base after the protestors surrounded his official residence. A Sri Lankan Court today imposed a travel ban on Mahinda Rajapaksa, his son Namal Rajapaksa and 15 others. An investigation would be conducted on all of them very soon. The Fort Magistrate's Court asked them not to travel overseas as the investigation on the GotaGoGama attacks is underway.

Parliamentarians Johnston Fernando, Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Sanjeewa Edirimanne, Kanchana Jayaratne, Rohitha Abeygunawardena, C. B. Ratnayake, Sampath Athukorala, Renuka Perera, Sanath Nishantha, Senior DIG Deshabandu Thennakoon are asked not to leave the country. There are speculations that the attacks are planned and conspired. On May 9th, violence erupted after the supporters of Mahinda Rajapaksa attacked the anti-government protestors who are peaceful and are demanding his ouster. Former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is all set to take his oath as the new Prime Minister of the country today at 6 PM in the presence of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
