After reaching the peaks in May, the second wave of coronavirus is slowly calling down. There are 40,000 cases reported on a daily basis and the experts are warning of a possible third wave very soon. The Centre is now extra cautious and is preparing to battle hard during the third wave. The Centre decided to build a 30-day buffer stock of all the essential coronavirus medicines like Favipiravir and Remdesivir. Several other government drugs, supplements along with the life-saving drugs are kept in stock. The Centre has plans to procure 5 million vials of Remdesivir and the government is paying in advance so that these drugs would be manufactured and stocked up before the third wave of coronavirus hits the country.
A Chief scientist at the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that the third wave of coronavirus will hit the country in the last week of August and the predictions say that India will witness 1 lakh cases per day. If the virus does not mutate further, the impact would be similar to the first wave of coronavirus. If the virus mutates further, the impact would be quite high and the situation would turn worse as per the predictions. Most of the health experts in the country predict that the third wave of Covid will not be devastating as the second wave. Considering the population and the percentage of vaccination, India will report high number of cases during the third wave. India also lifted the restrictions and this too may lead to a high number of cases during the third wave of coronavirus.
