India Ranks among Top Ten in Climate Change Performance Index

India ranks among the top ten in the Climate Change Performance for the first time. This proves that the efforts and and activities which are currently being taken by the government is helpful and is showing vast improvements. The government is aiming to increase the share of non-fossil fuels to 175 GigaWatt and to take it to 450 GW.

A time bound national level strategy for pan India implementation was launched last year in order to tackle the problems being faced with the increase in air pollution in a comprehensive manner in the form of National Clean Air Programme.

Increase in the forest cover makes India stand one among the few countries whose forest cover is consistently increasing. There has been an increase of over 24 percent of rise in forest and tree cover in the total geographical area of the Country.

The protective measures for tigers is also being taken by the government. The total tigers in India has risen to around three thousand considering the latest tiger census in 2018. the Compensatory Afforestation fund Management funds 47 thousand crore rupees to various states in August last year.
