The CBI Court at Ranchi today found Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Lalu Prasad Yadav guilty in the Fodder Scam as per the evidences produced before the court. Verdict is awaited.
Lalu Prasad and 40 others are accused of their involvement in the Fodder scam case on which is going on since 16 years and suddenly it came to the final stages at an unfortunate time for the party as general election for 2014 are ahead on which all parties have set their eyes.
As per the legal experts, Lalu Prasad Yadav may be convicted with jail sentence of 6 to 7 years and bail will be given only after serving 50% of the term of jail sentence. In the light of it the party is going to face a severe crisis in the absence of its chief if Lalu spends in jail.
The party leaders are confident that like in the last occasion of Lalu Prasad Yadav’s spending in Jail, his wife Rabri Devi will take the reins of the party. But the party may lose support of Congress party once Lalu Prasad Yadav is convicted.
The charge is that Lalu Prasad Yadav and others misappropriated a sum of Rs.35.66 crores from the fodder meant for animal feeding. It is expected that the CBI Court may give its verdict on 3rd October.
