Just the other day, we dropped a hint on the impending bifurcation decision. Finally Congress seems to have communicated the big decision.
The Central Government of India, declaring Hyderabad as a Union Territory for five years, has decided to make it the joint capital of the two states. The newly formed Union Territory will be governed by the ex-officio lieutenant governor of Hyderabad. The central committee is likely to propose this to the Union Cabinet before August 5 and pass the bill before the onset of the monsoon session of Parliament on August 6.
The cabinet will meet the Congress working committee to make a final call on whether to make a Telangana or Rayala-Telangana state. The Telanaga state will include ten districts of the Telangana, while the Rayala-Telangana might get two added districts of Anantapur and Kurnool. Interestingly, the Andhra part of the bifurcated state will be called Andhra Pradesh.
In the meantime, it's rumored that the crestfallen Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy has already stepped down from his post. Apparently sources reveal that Reddy was severely depressed after the meeting and had called up Sonia Gandhi to convey that he would not preside over the process of bifurcation. This irked Mrs. Gandhi and Kiran offered to step down.
A new chief minister is likely to be appointed to oversee the process of bifurcation. However, expecting major unrest in the Seemandhra region following the announcement, President's rule is likely to be put in the state until bifurcation is done.
