First US Congress Member to test Positive for COVID-19

A lawmaker of Florida has become the first member of the US Congress to test positive for the deadly novel coronavirus on Wednesday.

The office of Mario Diaz- Balart who is a representative has said in a statement that he has been notified that he has tested positive for the deadly novel coronavirus.

The Republican who represents a part of Miami follows Miami Mayor Francis Suarez has announced that he has been tested positive as being infected the deadly novel coronavirus during last week.

Diaz- Balart has said that he had entered into quarantine and that he has been working from his apartment in Washington.

He has said that he wanted everyone to know that he has been feeling better and that it is important for everyone to take it extremely serious and also follow the guideline of CDC in order to avoid getting sick and also to mitigate the spread of the deadly novel COVID-19.

According to a Johns Hopkins University tracker, the United States has so far confirmed over 7,300 cases and more than 110 deaths have been caused by being infected by the deadly novel coronavirus.

Currently, the deadly novel coronavirus which has officially been named as COVID-19 and which has been started in the Wuhan city of China’s Hubei Province has infected 2,19,555 people across the world and has also claimed the lives of several people with the number being recorded as 8,972 in number the number of recovered cases have been recorded to be 87,751 in number.
