Even though many political parties, student unions and the centre appealing youth not to resort to suicides, the suicide rate in Telangana region is apparently escalating. Another suicide incident over separate statehood came to light in Mahabubnagar district. A 22-year-old degree student Dasari Naresh, who hailed from Kothakota of Mahabubnagar has allegedly killed himself on Sunday. According to the locals, Naresh—who recently appeared for the final year degree examination—wrote a suicide note and went into the rest room where he self immolated. He even stuffed his mouth with clothes in order to avoid alarming people with his cries.
The neighbors, who observed heavy flames, broke open the doors and by then Naresh reportedly died. He has mentioned in his letter that he was unable to take proper care of his parents. He held no one responsible for his death. He has also written that Telangana should come at least with his death and that his suicide should be the last one for the cause.
Meanwhile, BJP state president, Kishan Reddy is taking out Telangana Bharosa Yatra from today to urge people not to suicides in the region.
While the prime minister Manmohan Singh and many AICC people stated that Telangana issue is quite sensitive and asked youths not to commit suicides over the same, its very unfortunate that such incidents are still coming to light. People and politicians are of the opinion that the Centre should come out with a clear cut statement on Telangana soon to put a check to the same.(phani)
