The union minister and daughter of legendary politician, N T Rama Rao, Daggubati Purandareshwari has said that the developmental programmes, plans and schemes implemented in Andhra Pradesh were schemes designed by the Congress party and not that of any individual. Addressing the media in Delhi, she has asked the public to remember that all the funds required for the developmental programmes in the states—after the Congress came to power in 2004—were sanctioned by the party alone and not by an individual. Talking about the upcoming bypolls to 18 assembly constituencies, Purandareshwari stressed that they were plunging into action with an aim of making a clean sweep.
“No one would have an aim to lose in elections. With strong confidence we go ahead. Whatever the work I get assigned by the party, I accept it and do the duty to the fullest,” said Purandareshwari. When one of the reporters mentioned that there are mixed responses in the party over using YSR’s name in the election, Purandareshwari has reiterated that they would be contended if they mention the developmental parties launched in the state. She has also said that their party introduced many beneficial schemes in the state since 2004 and that the party took forward all the schemes successfully.
One has to await and see whether Congress would be making use of YSR’s name or not. Also, there’s a confusion that whether public would get attracted towards the Congress if they minus YSR’s name. On the other hand, it’s a known fact that there are some hysterical fans of Congress in the state and that it was victory of the Congress in 2004 and not the victory of an individual.(Phani)
