Curfew continues in few areas of Hyd

The situation in several sensitive areas in Hyderabad remained to be peaceful on Tuesday after riots broke out three days ago.  The curfew, however, continues to be effective in Saidabad and Madannapet areas on the third consecutive day.

According to the police, the situation is limping back to normalcy and the curfew will most likely be lifted in a day.   It may be noted that even local buses were not plying on Monday in several areas on account of curfew. While a few buses were reportedly over crowded due to heavy rush, some even stayed back at their homes.

Addressing the media, the police said that so far 15 cases were registered against the persons who allegedly involved in communal disturbances in the state. Earlier, the home minister Sabitha Indra Reddy visited a private hospitals where victims of riots were treated.  Tight security has been beefed up in several parts of the city especially in places of worship and examination centres.

It may be noted that the curfew would be lifted between 12 noon and 2 PM on Tuesday, the decision was withdrawn. While these incidents are sending shock waves among several people residing in sensitive areas, a few people are expressing their grief over the wires that police kept on roads as a part of their security measures.  Also, CrPC Section 144 is also active in Hyderabad, which bans public from moving in a group of four and more.  The business, on the other hand, at Charminar and other areas reportedly went for a toss.(Phani)
