The IPL 2021 which was kept on hold abruptly because of the second wave of the pandemic resumed recently in United Arab Emirates (UAE). Ahead of their first match, the team of Sun Risers Hyderabad (SRH) received a huge jolt. Fast bowler T Natarajan is tested positive for coronavirus in the scheduled RT-PCR test. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issued a statement about the same and board said that Natarajan is sent to isolation and the rest of the squad is available for the match for now. SRH will play with Delhi Capitals today. BCCI also said that the match will continue as per the schedule as the other players of the team of SRH are tested negative for coronavirus.
BCCI issued a statement saying "The rest of the contingent including the close contacts underwent RT-PCR tests at 5AM local time this morning and the test reports are negative. As a result, tonight's game between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals will go ahead at the Dubai International Stadium, Dubai,". The six close contacts of Natarajan too are sent to isolation as per the update. All-rounder Vijay Shankar is also one among the six close contacts that the medical team identified. Team Manager Vijay Kumar, physiotherapist Shyam Sundar J, Dr. Anjana Vannan, logistics manager Tushar Khedkar and net bowler Periyasamy Ganesan are among the others who are sent to isolation.
