Charge sheet filed in illegal assets case, Jagan likely to be arrested

CBI today filed the charge sheet in the special CBI court at Nampally in Hyderabad in the illegal properties case involving the YSR Congress president Mr YS Jaganmohan Reddy.
In the wake of the filing of the charge sheet, the Government has alerted the security forces across the state leading to speculation that Jagan might be arrested today or tomorrow.
The CBI officials, who carried the charge sheet papers in two trunk boxes, submitted them to the special judge.
Sources said the charge sheet contained the names of Jagan as accused one, Vijayasai reddy as accused two, Aurobindo Pharma as accused three, Hetoro Drugs as accused four, Trident as accused five, Srinivasa Reddy as accused six, Aurobindo director Nityananda reddy as accused seven, Hetoro director Sarat Chandra Reddy as accused eight, suspended IAS officer BP Acharya as accused nine, APIIC officer I. Vijayalakshmi Prasad as accused ten, Chandramouli as accused eleven, Jagathi Publications as accused organization twelve and Janani Infra as accused organization thirteen.
The 68-page charge sheet contains names of 13 accused individuals and originations though 72 persons were named in the FIR when the case was registered by the CBI. Till now, Jagan confidante and auditor Mr Vijayasai Reddy was the only accused who was arrested in the case.
The charges were framed under section 420, 409, 168, 120 and 120 B of the IPC against all the accused in the case. CBI has cited 66 witnesses in the case.
Security beefed up
Security was also beefed up at media organizations including the Jagan-owned Sakshi daily and TV channel.
Meanwhile Jagan, who has been leading his 50-day Odarpu Yatra in Guntur district, will wind it up tonight and then continue it in East Godavari district from tomorrow. (J)
