On Thursday, Angela Voigt who was the 1976 Olympic long-jump champion for then East Germany, died of an uncovered illness while she was 61 as told by her former club SC Magdeburg.
Fact-fully, Voigt had her best season in 1976, apart from the Olympic gold raising the world record to 6.92 metres outdoors and 6.76m indoors. Moreover, she returned from a baby break with European championship silver in 1978 and retired in 1982.
It's always unfortunate to loose such a great legend!
May the almighty bless her soul.
