As the Indian Premier League (IPL) continues, fans are eagerly anticipating the announcement of India's T20 World Cup squad. The tournament is set to begin on June 2 in the West Indies and the USA. The BCCI is expected to reveal India's squad later this month and is closely monitoring the candidates for the 15-member playing team. One of the main topics of discussion regarding the Indian squad is the wicketkeeping options. Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson, Ishan Karthik, Jitesh Sharma, and KL Rahul are all competing for a spot in the squad. Dinesh Karthik, a veteran wicketkeeper, has also emerged as a possible contender due to his impressive performances in the IPL. Since the retirement of the legendary MS Dhoni in 2020, India has been unable to settle on a regular wicketkeeper. During a recent interview, India captain Rohit Sharma was asked about Dhoni and Karthik's chances of being included in the squad for the USA tour. In response, Rohit jokingly mentioned that while Dhoni is "sick and tired," Karthik could be a good choice for the team. "I was quite impressed, especially with Dinesh Karthik," he said.
In a recent interview on the Club Prairie Fire podcast, Rohit Sharma spoke about the impressive performances of himself and MS Dhoni in a recent match against SRH. Both players made a significant impact, with Dhoni's 20 runs proving to be the deciding factor. However, Rohit expressed his concerns about convincing Dhoni to participate in the upcoming World Cup, as he is feeling worn out and has developed an interest in golf. On the other hand, Rohit believes it will be easier to convince DK, referring to Dinesh Karthik, to join the team.
