Can anyone ever dream of West Indies walking out from World Cup qualifier matches? The two times champions at the global marquee tournament lost against Scotland and failed to get listed in the World Cup, which will be held in India. West Indies were champion holders in the inaugural world cup in 1975 and followed by the 1979 World Cup.
This is the first time in 48 years of World Cup history for West Indies to walk out from the selection matches. This match was the first-ever win for Scotland against West Indies. The cricket world was shocked by the Caribbean walkout and expressed unhappiness on social media. WI have two matches left out, even if they win those two they get 4 points, whereas Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe are already with six points in their group.
Indies senior players are still supportive to the team and one of the senior cricketer Janson Holder said that the team has many young players and he is expecting the WI team's better performance in the upcoming tournaments. He expressed his hope and suggested that the juniors need consistency. India, Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, New Zealand, Pakistan and South Africa are already through the main edition of the World Cup 2023, which will happen in India.
